LGA Excellence In Governance Awards
“Excellence in Governance” - A New Award Programme for Governors
The Lancashire Governance Association (LGA) is excited to announce the launch of a
School Governance Award Programme “Excellence in Governance”. Its aim is to celebrate
the contribution that those associated with Governance make to School(s) and/or Local
Communities. The scheme, which was voted for by members at the LGA Annual General
Meeting held on Saturday 11 October 2025, will be open to any member of the LGA.
“Excellence in Governance” will provide an opportunity for those who wish to promote and
celebrate the vital role that Governance has in enhancing Pupil’s experiences, improving
School outcomes and enriching Local Communities. It offers recognition, and modest
funding, towards the delivery of a governor-supported project. Funding will be available for
the Programme as 4 x £250 amounts or Bursaries.
This year, 2026, projects should demonstrate how, those associated with Governance, can benefit
the sustainability of the organisation concerned. This can be a home grown understanding of
sustainability or following alignment with a wider framework; Net Zero 2050, Environmental
Act 2021 or another recognised scheme.
Interested organisations will complete and submit an Application Form on the LGA Website.
This Form will allow applicants to describe their ideas, show how Governors and Pupils are
involved and, illustrate the difference the Project will make to a School and/or the Local
Community.
Application Forms, which are available in either word or pdf format (see below), should be completed and
submitted by e-mail to:
c.gregory@royalcross.lancs.sch.uk
Applications can be made throughout the year. Successful applicants will be contacted as soon as decisions are made - usually termly.
We look forward to receiving your applications and you celebrating your ideas and promoting “Exceptional Governance”.
